I’m Amy Jamison
My aim as an artist is to bring together the worlds of agriculture and art. My “Farm to Easel” Collection highlights the intertwining of agriculture and our lives. By featuring the beauty of what our land produces, my goal is to help to raise awareness for the importance of protecting our natural resources for future generations, and supporting our local and regenerative farmers. Farmers are special people. To grow things takes keen observation and is something that I admire. We all have a connection to food as it hits all 5 of our senses. My favorite memories with food are in my grandmas kitchen and as I get older I want to preserve those memories.
My work is characterized by my attention to detail, always making sure that I capture even the tiniest nuances with each subject. As a teacher, this attention to detail, as well as my passion for art, my knowledge, and my experiences is something I’m always willing to share with aspiring artists.
Artist Statement
I am a visual artist creating contemporary, vibrant still life paintings in watercolors. Through my work, I support and celebrate regenerative farming and locally grown food. I am inspired by the effort it takes to grow things ethically and the inherent beauty that results in things we often overlook. My process includes sourcing food from local farms. I set up still lifes and photograph them, then use my photos as reference when I paint. I use layers of transparent watercolors on cold press paper and wet on wet and wet on dry techniques.
